Website & Domain Migration Guide
Moving your website to Corwin Design is simple. We’ll do the technical work — your role is just to provide access and confirm a few details.
What You’ll Need to Provide
- WordPress login (admin level)
- Domain registrar login (where you bought your domain name, e.g., GoDaddy or Namecheap)
- Hosting login (if different from your domain registrar)
- Be available for quick communication (in case 2FA or approvals are needed by email)
Step 1: Share Your Access Information
You’ll receive a secure private link from Corwin. Use it to safely provide your:
- WordPress admin login
- Domain registrar (and hosting if different) login
👉 Never send logins by email — always use the secure link we provide.
Step 2: Grant Administrator Access
You can send us your login information in step 1 above. If you prefer, instead of sending your WordPress login, you may create a new Administrator account for Corwin:
- Log in to your WordPress dashboard (yourwebsite.com/wp-admin).
- Go to Users → Add New.
- Enter the username and email provided by Corwin.
- Set the role to Administrator.
- Click Add New User.
Then let your Corwin contact know access has been granted.
Step 3: Confirm Your Domain Details
- Let us know where your domain is registered.
- Be ready to confirm any transfer or DNS update emails that come from your registrar.
- Double-check that your domain renewal is up to date (to avoid expiration during the migration).
Step 4: Sit Back While Corwin Handles the Migration
We’ll take care of:
- Backing up your website
- Moving all files, settings, and content
- Updating hosting and DNS records
- Setting up SSL security (the padlock in your browser)
- Optimizing server performance
👉 During this time, please don’t make changes to your website until we confirm the migration is complete.
Step 5: After the Transfer
- DNS updates (domain pointing) may take 24–48 hours to fully process.
- Test your site (forms, images, pages) once we confirm the migration is complete.
- Report anything unusual to us — we’ll troubleshoot.
Common Things to Know
- If your old site is still showing, this is normal during DNS propagation. It will resolve within a couple days.
- SSL security may take a few hours to fully show green in your browser.
- Your email (if tied to your domain) may also briefly update during DNS changes.
Final Notes
Your part is simple: provide access via our secure request link, confirm emails from your domain/hosting provider, and test your site after the move. Corwin Design takes care of everything else.
✅ That’s the whole process — five easy steps.
