Not sure what kind of booklet is right for you? We’ve broken it all down — from paper types to page counts to the industries that benefit most from a great booklet. Read on.
What Is a Booklet, and Why Does Your Business Need One?
A booklet is a short, bound publication — typically ranging from 4 to 72 pages — used to communicate in-depth information in a polished, professional format. Unlike a single flyer or brochure, a booklet gives your brand room to breathe. You can tell your story, walk through your services, showcase your portfolio, or deliver a full product catalog — all in one cohesive piece that customers can hold, flip through, and keep.
Booklets are available in traditional portrait orientation (with long-edge binding) with more limited sizes in landscape orientation (with short-edge binding), giving you flexibility depending on how you want to display your content.
Booklet Paper Types Explained
The paper you choose affects how your booklet looks, feels, and is perceived by your audience. Here’s a breakdown of the stocks we offer:
100LB Gloss (Cover & Book)
Think of gloss as the “high-definition” option. It has a shiny, reflective surface that makes colors pop and photos look vivid and sharp. The Gloss Cover is a heavier weight used for the outside of your booklet — giving it a sturdy, premium feel. The Gloss Book is the same finish used for interior pages, keeping colors rich and images crisp throughout. Available in 80LB and 100LB weights; the 100LB is heavier and more substantial, while the 80LB is a great choice for larger print runs.
100LB Matte/Dull Book
Matte and dull stocks are very similar — both have a low-glare, non-shiny finish that gives your booklet a refined, understated look. They’re easier to read in bright light than gloss, and have a smooth, professional feel that many brands love. Photos still reproduce beautifully, just with a more subdued, editorial tone. If your booklet is text-heavy or aimed at a corporate audience, matte/dull is often the better choice. The dull variant has a very light coating that makes it slightly smoother to the touch, but to most readers they look virtually identical.
60LB & 70LB Premium Opaque (Uncoated)
Premium Opaque is an uncoated paper — no surface coating — but it’s engineered to be brighter and more opaque than standard office paper. The result is a clean, crisp print surface that feels natural and “paper-like” in the best way. Ideal for text-heavy interiors where comfortable reading, or writeability, is the top priority, like instructional guides, workbooks, employee handbooks, or policy documents. Available in 60LB and 70LB weights for interior pages.
Our Booklet Collections — Which One Is Right for You?
Gloss Booklets
The most popular option, with the widest range of sizes and quantities, is our Gloss Booklet. The glossy booklet is printed on 80LB or 100LB Gloss Book or Gloss Cover stock with an optional Aqueous Coating for added durability and scuff resistance. The AQ coating helps protect against fingerprints and wear, keeping your booklet looking sharp even after heavy handling. Available in four sizes (6″ x 9″, 12″ x 12″, 8.5″ x 5.5″, and 8.5″ x 11″) with up to 72 pages. Perfect for product launches, photography portfolios, hospitality menus, retail catalogs, and any project where bold imagery and saturated colors need to shine on every page.
Satin Booklets
This option pairs the 100LB dull book paper with a Satin Aqueous Coating — a water-based protective finish applied over the print. The satin AQ coating adds a subtle sheen that sits above the dull stock, protects against scuffs and fingerprints, and gives the booklet a polished durability. Available in 8.5″ x 11″ up to 16 pages with saddle-stitch binding. A smart choice for sales kits or trade show materials that will be handled frequently.
Matte Booklets
Clean, sophisticated, and easy to read — these booklets use 100LB matte uncoated stock with a low-glare finish. Available in 8.5″ x 11″ and 8.5″ x 5.5″ with up to 52 pages and saddle-stitch binding. Perfect for corporate reports, real estate guides, nonprofit publications, and any project where your copy takes center stage.
Premium Opaque Uncoated Booklets
Built for both readability and writability, these booklets use 60LB or 70LB bright premium opaque uncoated paper that feels substantial and professional without any glossy finish. Available in three sizes (6″ x 9″, 8.5″ x 5.5″, and 8.5″ x 11″) with 4 to 52 pages. A go-to choice for newsletters, training manuals, instructional guides, employee handbooks, and educational materials where long-form reading or writing is expected.

Who Uses Booklets? Industries That Get Results from Print
Booklets aren’t just for one type of business — they’re a versatile marketing tool used across virtually every industry. Here are some of the sectors that benefit most:
Real Estate Booklets
Listing presentations, neighborhood guides, new development showcases, and buyer/seller packets. A well-designed booklet gives agents and brokers a competitive edge in a visual, high-stakes industry.
Healthcare & Wellness Booklets
Patient education materials, procedure guides, wellness programs, and practice introductions. Booklets help healthcare providers communicate clearly and build trust with patients.
Education Booklets
Course catalogs, program guides, enrollment packets, and school profiles. Universities, private schools, and training organizations rely on booklets to communicate value to prospective students and parents.
Hospitality & Tourism Booklets
Hotel amenity guides, destination booklets, restaurant menus, and event programs. In hospitality, presentation matters — and a beautifully printed booklet elevates the entire guest experience.
Retail & E-Commerce Booklets
Product catalogs, seasonal lookbooks, and brand guides. Physical catalogs still drive purchasing decisions, especially in lifestyle, fashion, home goods, and specialty retail.
Construction & Industrial Booklets
Project portfolios, service guides, safety manuals, and capabilities brochures. Industries like petroleum, construction, and manufacturing use booklets to showcase complex services in a clear, credible format.
Nonprofits & Associations Booklets
Annual reports, donor impact reports, program guides, and membership packets. A polished booklet communicates legitimacy and stewardship to donors and stakeholders.
Financial Services & Insurance Booklets
Product guides, policy summaries, investment overviews, and advisor introductions. Trust is everything in finance — and a high-quality printed piece reinforces your professionalism.
Corporate & HR Booklets
Employee handbooks, onboarding guides, benefits booklets, and company overviews. Internal communications benefit just as much from professional print as external marketing materials.
Beauty & Cosmetics Booklets
Product collections, treatment menus, brand lookbooks, and retail catalogs. The cosmetic industry lives and dies by aesthetics — a gloss booklet with rich, full-color imagery is a natural fit.—

Frequently Asked Questions About Booklet Printing
What’s the minimum page count for a booklet?
Our booklets start at 4 pages for select sizes, with most options beginning at 8 pages. Booklets require page counts in multiples of 4.
What’s the difference between coated and uncoated paper?
Coated paper (gloss, dull, satin) has a surface treatment that makes ink sit on top, resulting in sharper images and more vibrant colors. Uncoated paper absorbs ink into the fibers, giving a softer, more natural feel — ideal for text-heavy content and writing.
Can you design my booklet from scratch?
Absolutely. Corwin Design is a full-service print and design agency. We can take your content and ideas from concept to finished product, or work from files you already have.
Do you offer direct mail services for booklets?
Yes! Our Direct Mail Booklets in sizes 5.5×8.5 and 8.5×11, with 8 or 12 pages, are designed to meet postal requirements, and we can assist with mailing list management and distribution so your booklet reaches exactly the right audience. Postage fees are not eligible for discounts.
How long does booklet printing take?
Turnaround times vary based on quantity, paper stock, and finishing. Once a design is complete, you can generally expect 9-13 business days for booklet printing; however, an 8-page newsletter on premium opaque can be done more quickly. Contact us for a current production timeline — we always do our best to meet your deadline.
